The London Weekender
Bank holiday weekend called for a little trip up to the big smoke to catchup up with uni mates and my sister, and it was bloody lush. Hopping on the train up to Paddington on Saturday morning, Alex and I headed to Chinatown for a stroll before making our way to the ever-so-colourful Covent Garden where we scoffed THE most delicious pizza at HomeSlice, Neal's Yard. It was legit the biggest pizza I have ever seen in my WHOLE LIFE and I was mesmerised.
Then it was off to one of my fave spots, The Lights of Soho gallery for a coffee with one of my old housemates May. We certainly put the world to rights and it was lovely to catchup after being busy bees for a few months. Also a very cool venue for a chilled coffee amongst the neon artworks.
Lugging around a shoulder bag 70% full of shit I didn't need (a gal needs outfit choices!!) Alex, Lucia and I trekked our way back to the tube, passing swiftly by the glamorous Ritz (ooh la la) back to South East where we were staying.
The muggy weather meant that a freshen up (and a G&T) was in order before heading off to Greenwich for some grub at Richard I pub with Alex's mate from uni. A lot of Sauvignon was consumed by the gals and we had a good laugh catching up.
Sunday morning was a bright and early affair as I made my way up to Shoreditch for a mooch around the vintage shops of Brick Lane. I had to resist the urge to unleash my inner vintage-obsessed-shopaholic-monster and settled for just the one purchase - a rather quirky leather bag with faux fur detailing.
One of my fave pastimes is to peruse the ever-changing Shoreditch graffiti and admittedly I got a lil snap happy...
With my belly rumbling at 11am I thought 'oh stuff it' and headed straight to the food hall for a Chinese feast. It. Was. Epic! Chinese for brunch - byebyeee abs, it was nice knowin ya...
The afternoon was spent with Alex and two of my pals from uni, Emma and Lara. We had a meander around the Tate Modern questioning whether a urinal really WAS art, and oogled the cool giant radio thingymajig a lot. Then we hit up the Southwark Tavern nr London Bridge for a cheeky bev and I had a pint of peroni. Again, seeeeeya abs - (je regrette rien).
Alex and I got the train home late Sunday back to Bath and had an Indian take away because let's be fair the abs were long gone anyway by this point... It was SO lovely to catchup with the uni lot and my sis as I hadn't seen them in yonks and aside from a little drizzle here and there and a rather achey shoulder from my ridic bag-full-of-shit we had the best time!
London - ya cool.
