Adventures in Wonderland
If you follow me on Instagram (link below post), you may have seen that recently I posted a couple of photos of some gorgeous scenic gardens that I had the pleasure of discovering on a sunny July afternoon. As it's quite close to home, it's surprising that I'd never heard of this wonderful place before, boasting immaculately kept Italian gardens surrounding a gorgeous Manor House in Wiltshire, Iford Manor made for the perfect little adventure day out.
The house looked stunning from the moment we walked into the gates and I was immediately excited to explore what the grounds had to offer. The luscious greenery was completely charming set against water lily ponds and Italian style stonework and wandering about the gardens I discovered a number of hidden features, squirrelled away down woodland trails and stairways.
I particularly loved this quaint little rockery pond and so thought it a perfect opportunity to squeeze in an outfit of the day snap or two... Here I'm wearing my Hollister cutout shoulder croptop and my Topshop Joni crop highwaisted white jeans paired with my Deena & Ozzy brown patent loafers for a fresh, crisp look. My black handbag is my trusty tassel classic from H&M.
Iford manor hosts a range of arts events from Theatre to Opera. What better than to experience a show at this stunning venue? Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to experience either on my first visit, but I imagine that the evening performances and this wonderful drinks reception venue alike look beautiful in the evening due to the plethora of fairy lights scattered about.
Of course there was plenty of opportunity to photograph the vibrant flowers which were meticulously kept around the gardens. All in all it was a truly lovely day - it's amazing discovering such beautiful places that you never knew were right on your doorstep and so important to take a bit of time for yourself to enjoy being calm and pensive now and again, particularly if you have the opportunity to do so in such an incredible setting.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my little quaint adventure - of course it was topped off with some tea and cake in true British style in the Manor House tea rooms! I can safely say that lavender earl grey tea is delightful - so if you ever manage to get your mitts on it do give it a try.
