The infamous Frome Independent market
On Sunday I visited the Frome Independent Market. Famed for its artisan crafts, mouth-watering food and buzzing atmosphere it made for a fantastic day out.
The market takes place on the first Sunday of each month, and December's event saw flocks of visitors clasping mulled cider in their mitts whilst mooching around the stalls. If you're a foodie fan, you'll be in your element - the spectacular cakes are works of art in their own right, and there's something for everyone thanks to an eclectic mix of world street foods and deluxe home-baked goods. The Bakemonger and Elspeth's Kitchen were serious favourites!
If gifts and vintage fashion is more up your street, then taking a walk up the winding St Catherine's Hill is a must. It's like stepping back in time, with market stalls dotted up the cobbled streets and chic emporiums either side.
Be prepared to dig deep into the pockets though, these boutique stores are pretty upmarket.
If you'd like to pop along to Frome Independent Market, check out their website for details and dates. It runs from 10am-4pm and I'd recommend using the park and ride service - get there early to secure a space though as it's VERY popular.
