OOTD: Vintage Hermès scarf meets 60's hairdo.
Having recently watched 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' At the cinema, I was drawn to the chic, sophisticated style of the 60's and so today's outfit of the day is a little 60's inspired.
Discovering a vintage gem in my mum's wardrobe, I immediately adored this Hermès scarf, which can be styled around the red leather-look bag as a contrasting accessory or simply worn as a scarf to jazz up the plainer Moto (at Topshop) denim dress. I picked up the size 6 dress for a couple of quid on eBay at auction. A great bargain! The bag is a perfect size for my essentials and ties in with the 60's style. Who knew a simple Marks and Spencer's bag could look so stylish!? As always, I couldn't resist throwing my ASOS sunglasses (£15) into the mix... Quel surprise. The blue lenses really pick up the blue hues in the silk scarf.
I particularly love this hair and makeup look - for someone with fine hair this voluminous style gives a facade of thicker, fuller hair and looks effortlessly stylish. A bit of careful back-combing, hairspray and bobby pins at the ready, I created the large quiff in three sections, securing with grips as I pushed it forwards and up in order to get a more rounded height in the front. I then back-combed the rest of my hair from the roots before using the wider end of my curling wand to create some loose waves in the tresses, volumising with my Tresemmé Salon Finish extra hold hairspray.
I used the following products to create the makeup look: Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in shade 103 True Ivory, Collection's Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear concealer in shade 1, Fair, my Sleek contour kit in 884 Light, Collection's Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner (to create the winged line on my upper lid), MUA's black powder from the Smoke Screen eyeshadow palette, (finely buffed into the crease of my eyelid but not on the lid itself) with Sigma's precision eyeliner EO5 brush, my beloved Loréal False Lash Telescopic mascara in shade Magnetic Black, Rimmel natural bronzer in shade 023 Sun Bronze, MAC lipliner in shade High Energy and MAC's vivacious red matte lipstick in shade Lady Danger. I am a huge fan of Real Techniques brushes and use them daily, additionally my Barry M tapered bronzer brush easily helps to define my cheekbones for that sunkissed (and not orange!) look. My loafers are by Ozzy and Deena at Urban Outfitters and look so cute with the dress. All in all this is a casual-chic look which is very versatile for day to night wear.
I hope you loved this outfit of the day as much as I did, don't forget to like this post and give my blog a follow- thanks for reading!
